Body Lotion vs. Body Cream

Different skin types require different types of hydration. Therefore, many types of lotions and creams for body care are available in every store, and you just have to choose what suits you best.

Products for body hydration aren't so much different from moisturizing face creams - every skin type needs different product. Moisturizing lotions and creams have the same effect - improves skin moisture that it is necessary for natural glow and health. What determines which product is suitable to you is the degree of dryness of your skin and the areas in which you want to concentrate. Lotions are usually based on water or oil, aren't greasy and are rapidly absorbed into the skin. Sensitive skin deserves a little extra pampering, and this hypoallergenic Soothingly Sensitive Aloe & Buttermilk Body Lotion by Burt's Bees delivers it.

Body creams are used when the skin is very dried out, such as in winter due to exposure to dry air, cold or wind. Frequent changes in temperature due to the transition from cold to warm can dry out your skin and make it itchy, and prone to redness. This kind of skin lotion does not provide sufficient care, but it is used when the skin isn't extremely dry.

Creams for body care are also water-based or oil-based, but their consistency is thicker and richer. They are quickly absorbed into the skin, but constitute a real barrier between the skin and the elements that can irritate or dry out your skin. If your skin is oily, you should avoid creams because they clog your pores and creates pimples.

Sometimes the skin is very dry only in certain parts of the body such as elbows, hands and feet - in this case, choose a cream for dry parts, and nourish the rest of the body with lotion. Body butter is very popular today because it is designated for very dry skin.

One of my favorite body cream is L`Occitane Shea Butter Ultra Rich Body Cream which will give you ultimate moisturizing comfort, with a high (25%) concentration of Shea Butter. If you prefer lotions you can use L`Occitane Shea Butter Body Lotion which is a daily moisture solution for dry skin, in a non-breakable squeeze bottle ideal for shower and travel.

Usually body butter is enriched with a scent, and it leaves a light scent on the skin. They are good for frequent hydration of a very dry skin, because they will make it smooth, soft, nourished and fragrant. Given that it is very concentrated, it is enough to apply a small amount of butter and spread it throughout the body. Be careful and do not overdo it if you're in a hurry - it can leave grease stains on clothes if it's not absorbed.
